#76  "Chopin" named for the great composer.
#91  "Herbie Mann" for the jazz flute musician. Famous for Memphis Underground and other albums.
#92 "Jobim" for the composer and musician from Brazil. His association with Stan Getz and other jazz musicians (and Sinatra) brought him worldwide fame as a composer of samba, etc. (the title on this flute was added after the picture)

#121  "NCIS - LA" named for the TV show, spin off from NCIS. (another NCIS type show based in Los Angeles)
#165  "Basil Rathbone" for the British actor of stage, film and radio. Most known for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes for Fox and Universal (with Nigel Bruce as Watson). A great character actor, and an accomplished swordsman as well, one of Hollywood's best. see Adventures of Robin Hood(38) and the Mark of Zorro(40).
#189 "Inaka dinner" for the a menu item at Inaka Restaurant in the period when it was mine. (late 70's).

#224  "Hank Quinlan" named for the character from the film "Touch of Evil". Played by Orson Welles, also the film's director.
#241  "Chopin, Opus 53 Heroic" for the composition by Chopin.
#242 "Quiet time" for the custom and practice from the Oxford group. It was used by early members of AA in group number 1 in Akron. It also the source of Step 11, prayer and meditation, the group conscience (and as such business meetings as well).

#257  "Kyle forgot his banjo" named for an incident at Vincenzo's one night.
 #258  "soup class" for my soup class, also using this blog (in the past). A number of flutes are named from food items or ideas from my restaurant (Inaka, years ago). MOst of my soups are vegetarian.
#294 "Gerald Wilson Orch." for the jazz trumpet great, who was also a composer, arranger and orchestra leader as well. His last performance locally was at Catalina's and Gerald is 96.

#52  "Satchmo"  named for the jazz great of the trumpet and cornet, Louis Armstrong.
 #54  "Dickens H.C." for the character from the film "Adventures of Robin Hood", actual name Dickon Malbete, played by Harry Cording character actor father of my friend Bill.
#57 "little grey cells" for the references made by Poirot in his novels and films, by Agatha Cristie.

#59  "Buster Bailey"  named for the  jazz great of the clarinet, most know for his time with the original Fletcher Henderson Orch. and many great small group recordings of the 30's and 40's as well.
#89  "Peter Gunn" for the Mancini tune which was the theme of the Peter Gunn TV show.
#90 "Opie" for the character from the Andy Griffith show of the 60's played by Ronny Howard.

#68  "Track 29"  named for the lyric from song "Chattanooga Choo Choo" sung by Tex Beneke with Glenn Miller's Orch. also referred to by a shoe shine boy in "Young Frankenstein".
#69  "Otis Spann" for the great blues piano player who became famous playing with Muddy Waters in Chicago on Chess.

#109  "Art Pepper"  named for the  jazz great of the alto sax from Stan Kenton and many recordings of his own over many years.
#207  "Asta" for the dog from the Thin Man series of films.
#208 "Willie's meeting 3-24-13" for the meeting at Willie's house, one specific day.
#375 "Elementary" for the Sherlock Holmes TV show with Johnny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu, Aidan Quinn and Jon Michael Hill.

#130  "Frog B.W." for the nickname of tenor sax jazz great Ben Webster.
 #133 "Albert Nicholas" for the New Orleans jazz great of the clarinet.

#149  "You only live twice" for the James Bond film and book.  SOLD
 #174 "Stan Getz" for the tenor sax jazz great. From Woody Herman's four brothers band to many jazz recordings of his own and  bossa nova as well.

#221  "H.A.L.T."  named for the  program idea: Hungry, Angry, Lonely and Tired.
#246  "Once I Loved" for the Jobim tune in it's English version by this title.
#298 "This to shall pass - 7olr" for the program idea, which I was reminded of one night at 7olr.

#323  "Wham bam thank you ma'am  - Max Roachnamed for the  drum expression quoted by Max Roach.
#324  "Buddha speaks" for the Alanon friend Joe J. and how we sometimes referred to him.

#401  "Jordu '53 Duke Jordan"  named for the  jazz tune, it's composer and the year it was written.
#402  "Chant of the Weed" for the old jazz tune, written by Don Redman which was also the theme of his big band.
#434 "Hot and Anxious" for the jazz tune played by Fletcher Henderson and Don Redman in 1931. One of the derivatives of "In the Mood".

#22  "Anna May Wong"  named for the  actress of silent and sound film.  (#1) an additional item has same name. This is a prototype and is slightly off key. (all C's  from #28 are correct)

#29  "Soldier's Joy" for the old fiddle tune dating to the American Civil War or before. Possibly the first song with a drug lyric, still surviving. (this item not available, inquire about type).
#31 "Jane" for the character of Edgar Rice Burroughs in his Tarzan books, and the film series derived from them, particularly the MGM series.

#115  "Jimbo"  named for the character nickname from the Rockford Files. (Garner).  Also for a friend from 6AM whom I referred to as that nickname as well.-SOLD
 #148   "Old Dan Tucker" for the old fiddle tune dating before the American Civil War, with sheet music versions dating from 1843. Possibly attributed to Daniel Emmett, the lyrics at least. - SOLD
#162 "Robin and Marian" for the film of the same name with Audrey Hepburn and Sean Connery as the famous duo later in life, directed by Richard Lester. -SOLD

#183  "Luis Russell"  named for the jazz pianist and band leader from Panama and New Orleans, whose band was known for backing Louis Armstrong in the 1930's.
#247  "perception" for the idea in program, describing someone else having a clearer vision.
#259 "Came to believe" for the idea in program, part of Step 2.- SOLD

#227  "Peking Opera Blues"  named for the film by Tsui Hark from Hong Kong from 1986. (this piece I consider a stone flute being somewhat off key)
#232  "Barney Fife" for the famous Don Knotts character from the Andy Griffith show, and because these miniatures are in effect fifes.
#288 "Keep coming back" (made 6-22-13) for the idea in program, known as a slogan and a very important part of many 12 step programs.
#303 "Clayton Moore - Lone Ranger" for the character from TV and film made famous by actor Clayton Moore in the 1950's.

#282  "Katie & Ruby"  named for two program friends in Alanon. SOLD 
#301  "Marvel - Stan Lee" for the famous comic company and one it's primary originator. SOLD
#317 "C Jam Blues 1942 E.K.E." for the instrumental jazz composition from 1942 by Duke Ellington. Later known as Duke's Place with lyrics.

#352  "Do's and Don'ts"  named for the program ideas from Alanon. (made for my wife).
#355  "Duke's Place" for the jazz composition by Duke Ellington. This is the lyric version, instrumentally it was known as C Jam Blues. SOLD
#356 "unselfishness, page 62, etc" for the program ideas, originating in 1909 as part of Rev. Speer's four absolutes, later used by the Oxford group and in the AA book referring to a few paragraphs on page 62 as well.

#362  "Assets & Liabilities - Dr. Bob"  named for main system of inventory, or 4th step work used in AA from the early years until the 1970's. It was used by Dr. Bob thus his link with it.
#398  "April in Paris" for the composition by Vernon Duke and Yip Harburg dating to 1932, from the show Walk a Little Faster.
#411 "Hamilton Burger" for the character by Erle Stanley Gardner from his Perry Mason series of books, primarily for the character played by William Talman in the 50's/60's Perry Mason TV show.

#23  "#1 Son" named for the character from the Charlie Chan series played by Keye Luke or any eldest son. This piece was a prototype and has a plug, and if sold would be at a discount.
#32  "Jazz" for the original American art form, naming a number of jazz greats on the piece. (for example: Duke, Ella, Prez, Bird, Diz etc.)
#65 "Little Jazz R.E." for the jazz trumpet great, Roy Eldrige whose nickname was "Little Jazz".

#99  "The Kid  " named for the Chaplin film from 1921, with Chaplin as the tramp, and Jackie Coogan as the kid.
#100  "McGee" for the character from NCIS.
#118 "a little target practice" from dialogue from the film "Lady from Shanghai" by Welles.

#146  "B movie" named for that old Hollywood art form.
#155  "Mancini" for the composer of film and TV music, often employing jazz musicians and jazz themes.
 #169 "Igor" for the character from the Frankenstein series, starting with the third one, but more exactly with the character from Young Frankenstein.

#175  "Nancy Sinatra - You Only Live Twice" named for the singer and the James Bond film that she sang the theme for.
#182  "Sean Connery 007" for the actor and one of his most famous roles as James Bond in numerous films.
 #264 "overshare" for the term describing sharing a bit too much (in a meeting, from alanon).

#228  "Ben Turpin" named for that old silent screen comedian, famous for his crossed eyes.
#239  "Underdog" for the  TV cartoon character whose voice was done by Wally Cox.

#287 "AACM" for the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (Chicago) started in 1965 by Muhal Richard Abrams and others (Art Ensemble of Chicago, etc).
