#255  "Castle" for the TV show about a mystery writer and NY police detective(s).
#265 "Victor Sen Yung" for the actor known for his role as number two son in the Charlie Chan series and for Hop Sing on Bonanza.

#74  "Jimmy Rushing" named for the great jazz singer, nickname Mr Five by five, from Kansas City known for his work with the Count Basie Orchestra.
#96  "Tricky Sam" for the jazz musician(trombone). Known for his work with the early Duke Ellington Orchestra (30's-40's). Best described by Ellington as "beyond category".

#98 "Laura" for the Fox film noir of the 40's starring Dana Andrews, Gene Tierney, Clifton Webb and Vincent Price.

#111  "Kid Ory" for the great New Orleans jazz musician(trombone). Known for his work with Louis Armstrong of the 1920's, and a long recording career. Best described by Ellington as "beyond category". And the father of an old friend of mine.

#119  "Ornette" for the jazz musician(alto sax). Known for many recordings with Don Cherry in the 50's and 60's.

#150  "the Reno Club" named for the famous jazz club from Kansas City of the 1930's. Known as the place the Count Basie Orchestra, then 9 pieces, got it's start.

 #278  "flutes on the rocks" fora photo I took on the rocks in Malibu with a couple flutes.
 #281 "Eric Dolphy - Imitate the animal sounds" for the great jazz musician (reeds, flute).  Best described by Ellington as "beyond category".

#342  "Andy Kirk and his 12 clouds of Joy" for the jazz musician and band leader from Kansas City. Best described by Ellington as "beyond category".
#345 "Artie Shaw" for the jazz musician(clarinet) and big band leader. Best described by Ellington as "beyond category".
 #366 "Don Redman Orch" for thegreat Harlem jazz orchestra of the 30's and 40's lead by the wonderful Don Redman (reeds, vocals, composer, band leader, etc.).

#326  "Harry Carney" named for the jazz musician(baritone sax, clarinet). Played for Duke for many years (40+). Best described by Ellington as "beyond category".
#351  "Paco - Portraits - Gerald Wilson" for the jazz album and cut by Gerald Wilson's Orchestra on World Pacific. Best described by Ellington as "beyond category".

#354 "Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939)" for the 1939 Fox film starring Basil Rathbone, Nigel Bruce, Ida Lupino and George Zucco.

#358  "Red Cross" named for a tune by Charlie Parker from early in his career.
#363  "Negi Nation" for the phrase coined by Buddy Dofu back in the Inaka days. Negi referring to the vegetable, green onion in Japanese.

#368 "Benny Carter 1907-2003" for the jazz great (multi instrumentalist, composer, arranger, band leader) known for his phenomenal tone on alto sax. Nicknamed "The King" and known for his perfect pitch, it used to be said he could hear a dog bark or a train whistle and tell you the note. Visited Inaka in 1978, honoring us with a visit.

#449  "Marcel" named for a late friend from AA, which I used to see at Angelino in 1988-89, and years later at Daily Attitude Adjustment in Fair Oaks, north of the American River, maybe 5-10 years ago.
#450  "Peacock - NBC" for the symbol used by NBC for many years, the NBC Peacock.

#454  "New Years Dinner, 1-1-14" named for n event here at our house, with the participants noted on the piece.
#473  "Tampopo" for the Japanese film by Juzo Itami about the search for the perfect soup (ramen).
#483 "Private Party" for an idea that Constantine came up with one day.




The average quenilla is a smaller piece, whereas the quenacho is a larger piece. The prices also relfect the size, and amount of labor on same.

#66  "Frankie light a match" named for a funny phrase used by my Aunt Betty on a holiday dinner night many years ago.
#107  "Tatum" for the jazz musician(piano). Best described by Ellington as "beyond category".
#217 "Ernie S." for the family dog of over 16 years that passed a while back. Great friend to my three kids and all of us.


 Three C # flutes:

#93  "Bones" named for the currently running TV show. (a prototype large quenacho)
#171  "Stubby Kaye" for the comic actor of stage and screen. Well known for many musicals, including his role as Nicely Nicely in Guys and Dolls. I also remember his part with Nat King Cole in Cat Ballou as troubadours. ( a stubby little quenilla)
#309  "Act as if" for the phrase allied with program which originates in
1954 Sam Shoemaker article (Christian Herald, reprinted Reader's Digest) "... By acting as if he had faith-until, indeed, there was an opening for God to come through." ( a miniature quenilla)

#231  "Little Jimbo" for a friend from 6AM. the name originates in a joke on the Rockford nickname.
#244 "too many flutes" for the phrase uttered by my lovely wife.
